Everyone has talents – we help them grow.
The Digital Revolving Door is a cross-state educational initiative launched in 2020 by state institutes and other educational stakeholders – originally as a response to pandemic-related distance learning. Today, it represents a future-oriented model of individualized learning that considers all learners.
At its core is an inclusive, development-oriented concept of education: The Digital Revolving Door supports learners in pursuing their individual interests, discovering their own strengths , and developing new skills – regardless of school type, background, or support needs. Through diverse, flexibly selectable offerings, learners have the opportunity to actively shape their learning process, engage with topics that truly fascinate them, and learn at their own pace and in their own style. This creates a space for personal development, creative expression, and genuine participation in education.
The Digital Revolving Door Model
Students are given the opportunity to temporarily step away from regular classes to pursue individually chosen enrichment activities. These enrichment opportunities complement the school day and enable digital, self-directed learning – for example, in the form of:
- Live courses on a wide range of topics,
- Self-study courses with flexible scheduling,
- Project workshopswhere you can implement your own ideas.
This creates learning spaces where learners can experiment, independently build knowledge and exchange ideas with peers from all over Germany and beyond.
Diverse applications
- The model can be used flexibly:
– in the conveyor belt or revolving door model,
– as part of all-day programs,
– within substitute teaching
– as part of the flipped classroom principle
– to accompany project phases
– for the targeted support of individual learners (e.g. in career orientation, during the transition from primary to secondary school or for exam preparation),
– or as part of school concepts for individual support.
The Digital Revolving Door creates access to learning opportunities – individual, inclusive and future-oriented.
