The GesundheitsLaden Bremen eV is a non-profit information and communication center, founded in 1979, with the following goals:

  • Improvement of living conditions
  • Empowerment for self-determined action
  • Dismantling hierarchies
  • Improving the relationship between patients, providers and payers
  • A place for exchanging experiences and for committed individuals (self-help)
  • political lobbying
  • Public relations

25 Years of the Bremen Patient Advice Center:
In September 1993, the Bremen Patient Advice Center began its work as a project of Gesundheitsladen Bremen e.V. (Bremen Health Shop Association). Gesundheitsladen Bremen e.V. has existed since 1979 as a non-profit information and communication center for all health-related questions.

It is independent of cost bearers and service providers in the health system and finances itself through self-help promotion, contributions, donations and through voluntary work.

The main focus of the patient advocacy office is patient counselling and patient representation. This is achieved through (political) advocacy, public relations and cooperation, as well as information dissemination.

We are a member of the Federal Association of Patient Advocacy Offices – BAGP.

We see ourselves as an independent information, advice and complaints office for all questions in the health system, health consumer protection and as a contact point for people who want to get involved.

We are partisan and guided by the experience gained from many years of advising people seeking help, offering support and encouragement according to the principle: help for self-help.

We offer information, advice, exchange of experiences and public relations to strengthen the position of patients in the healthcare system.

We demand the participation of patients in the healthcare system in the sense of citizen-oriented participation. (Since the Healthcare Modernization Act of 2004, patient representatives have been allowed to participate in consultations, but not in decision-making.)

We demand a patient rights and patient protection law that clearly describes and summarizes patients' rights in an easily understandable way.
Do you have questions about the healthcare system or perhaps problems with your doctor, hospital, or health and long-term care insurance provider?

We offer independent, confidential, and free advice. We provide help and support in your search for information and solutions – by phone or in person at our advice center.
