A kind word, a free hot shower, and/or laundry service. Homeless people often only have the clothes they are wearing. At the Johannis Oasis, they can wash and dry their belongings. During this time, they are provided with a bathrobe and can, for example, shower themselves. This is made possible through the volunteer work of members of the St. Johann parish and Caritas Bremen.
Who can use the Johannis Oasis?
We want to help people with limited financial resources. They are invited to use the bathrooms free of charge – to use the toilet, brush their teeth, or take a hot shower. They can also do their laundry: those who want to wash small amounts by hand can do so in the sinks. Those who need the two washing machines and/or two dryers are welcome to use them.
How much does it cost to do laundry?
Using the Johannis Oasis is free. We collect donations for the project. Volunteers are on-site to provide support. New volunteers are very welcome.
Shower gel, laundry detergent, and towels –
soap, shower gel, shampoo, laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc. – everything is provided. Loaner towels are also available at Johannis-Oase. Guests who only have the clothes they are wearing will be provided with a loaner bathrobe. Please note, however, that these items are for use only at Johannis-Oase and may not be taken home.
The Johannis Oasis is housed in the former sacristy of the parish of St. Johann.
