Evening course
Do you want to provide professional childcare in your own home or work as a second staff member in a daycare center? This course will qualify you for this in both theory and practice!
We prepare you for your future work as a childminder: Through classroom instruction and practical experience, we will develop the specialist knowledge and skills you need to professionally care for children in your own home, in the child's family home, or in a daycare center. The goal is for you to be able to meet the pedagogical, organizational, and legal requirements of working as a childminder with children aged 0-3 years.
Requirements for participation
You can participate in the basic training course for child day care providers…
- if you have language skills at level B2 or higher, or are a native speaker
- if you have participated in an information event and consultation from the specialist service for child day care, PiB – Pflegekinder in Bremen gGmbH (contact and dates at www.pib-bremen.de)
- when PiB determines your suitability
Contents
In the preparatory qualification for child day care, you acquire and expand specialist knowledge and skills to meet the educational, organizational and legal requirements in working as a child day care provider with children aged 0-3 years.
Topics include:
- shaping relationships with children and parents
- Understanding and supporting the education and development of children
- Understanding and guiding children's play
- Initial contact with the parents, admission of the child, settling-in period
- Child welfare
- Health, hygiene and nutrition
- legal foundations, e.g., mandate to promote children and children's rights
- Job application training
- Setting up a daycare center
The qualification is based on the qualification handbook for child day care (QHB).
They have lessons with supplementary self-study units and do an internship in a crèche or childminding facility.
The preparatory qualification ends with a final procedure.
