“Who cares? Perceive, appreciate, transform” – under this motto, the Bremen Chamber of Employees, in cooperation with the Bremen City Library, will host the first Chamber Care Day on November 6, 2026.
On this day, the Bremen Chamber of Employees and the Bremen City Library will dedicate themselves to paid and unpaid care work – encompassing all activities of providing, caring, nurturing, and supporting others, such as childcare, education, elder care, and much more – and its value to society.
From 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a conference day with lectures, workshops, and discussions will take place in the Chamber of Employees' cultural hall. The target audience is individuals who deal with paid and unpaid care work in a professional context. An invitation with a detailed program and registration information will follow.
At the Bremen Central Library, a diverse program on the topic of care will be held between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Various organizations will provide information on care work and their services – including the legal advice service of the Chamber of Employees. Children's theater, performances by Friedrich the Magician, and interactive activities will round out the program. The target audience includes individuals who perform care work privately and/or professionally – and anyone interested in the topic.
In the evening, the topic of care work will be examined from a cultural perspective. In the cultural hall of the Chamber of Employees, Alexandra Zykunov will read from her books "What more do you want?!" and "But you're allowed to say patriarchal crap, aren't you?" starting at 6:00 p.m. Following this, at 8:00 p.m., the film "Heroine," which offers insights into the daily life of a professional caregiver, will be shown.
