Professional development course “Let’s get started” – teaching learning strategies

Learning for learning! This training course optimally prepares you for social pedagogy training or retraining.

Reading and understanding academic texts, writing papers and exams, giving presentations: During teacher training or professional development, you should be familiar with and able to use the subject-specific terminology. If German is not your native language or if it's been a long time since you were in school, then this training course is perfect for you: We will train you in the appropriate learning strategies and prepare you to master the theoretical parts of your training.

Requirements for participation

You can participate in the training course on teaching learning strategies…

• if you wish to complete training in the educational field (childcare, social education assistant, educator, special education teacher).
• if German is not your native language and you would like to prepare for the technical language requirements of the training.
• if your school days are already several years behind you and you would like to prepare for the technical and professional requirements of the training.

Contents

“Cracking” specialist texts: You will examine the criteria of the text type “specialist text” and learn and apply suitable learning and reading strategies in order to independently acquire texts and learning content.

Writing term papers and presentations: You will learn about the written language requirements of your training and develop a method for writing the required text type (term papers, presentations, practical assignments, etc.). You will also learn about and apply self-correction techniques.

Special focus on exams – successfully mastering written exams: You will learn suitable reading strategies for understanding exam questions and be able to identify key terms. Furthermore, you will develop a method for completing written exams.
