German courses & more – support for immigrants with cognitive impairments
We support immigrants with cognitive impairments in learning German, finding their way around everyday life, building social contacts and actively participating in social life.
We offer simplified German courses, individual consultations, and support with questions about health, social benefits, leisure activities, and career prospects. This is complemented by a self-help group that provides a space for exchange, interaction, and new contacts.
All services are free of charge and are supervised by an experienced team.
The project is a collaborative project between the German Red Cross (DRK) Bremen district association and the State Working Group for Self-Help.
Overview of offers:
German Courses:
We offer easy-to-understand German courses for immigrants with cognitive impairments. The courses are geared towards the everyday lives of the participants, take place in small groups, and respect individual learning paces. Two qualified teachers lead the lessons and ensure a supportive learning environment.
New courses start in September 2026:
- Course 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:30 – 11:15 am
- Course 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 12:30 to 14:15
- Course 3: Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM

Placement in Leisure and Employment:
We help you find suitable leisure activities to make new contacts and settle in Bremen. We also assist you in finding internships, employment opportunities, or jobs, and support you with the next steps.

offers a safe space for sharing experiences, mutual support, and new friendships. We play games, cook together, and spend time with one another. Your own ideas and suggestions are also welcome.
