Family education thrives on good cooperation. This is precisely where the Bremen Family Network comes in: As a specialist agency, it connects families, professionals, service providers, administration, and policymakers, contributing to making support services in Bremen visible, accessible, and interconnected. The recently published 2025 annual report shows how successful this work was last year – and which topics will shape family education in the future.

Center for Orientation and Networking

In 2025, the Bremen Family Network answered nearly 1,900 inquiries. Remarkably, 55 percent of all inquiries came from professionals and multipliers. They were seeking information on services, opportunities for collaboration, or support in assisting families. This reaffirms the Bremen Family Network's role as the central point of contact for family education in the city of Bremen.

The topics reflect current societal challenges: lack of childcare services, separation and custody issues, mental health problems, financial crises, and housing shortages. The Bremen Family Network gathers these experiences and contributes them to professional discussions and the further development of support services.

The specialist portal is growing with you

The digital offerings are also being consistently developed. In 2025, the family portal recorded nearly 260,000 visitors and more than 510,000 page views. At the same time, a completely redesigned website was created and launched in spring 2026.

Of particular relevance to professionals: The new specialist portal has been significantly expanded. It will now offer independent access to expert articles, training courses, funding programs, networks, materials, and current developments in family education. Improved search functions, greater accessibility, multilingual content, and new digital tools are designed to facilitate daily work and simplify access to information.

The Family Education Network strengthens cooperation

Families can only be effectively supported if the various systems work closely together. Therefore, the Bremen Family Network, in close cooperation with Department 21 (Senator for Labor, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration), organizes the city-wide Family Education Network twice a year. In 2025, participants addressed, among other things, how collaborations can be further developed and how family education and health promotion can be more closely integrated. On average, around 50 professionals from different fields used the meetings for exchange, networking, and shared ideas.

Keeping families in mind together

As a specialist and liaison organization, the Bremen Family Network has a broad perspective on the living situations of families in Bremen. Through continuous exchange with citizens, institutions, administration, and policymakers, needs are identified early on – as are gaps in services and new challenges.

These findings are directly incorporated into the further development of the specialist portal, the advisory services, and the networking activities. The goal remains to support professionals in their daily work, strengthen collaborations, and jointly contribute to ensuring that families in Bremen quickly find the appropriate help.
