Since its founding, the German Family Association has acted as a spokesperson for all families, advocating for policies that place the family at the center of all socio-political action and recognize its achievements. About the German Family Association eV. The German Family Association (DFV) has been committed to the interests of families in Germany for 100 years at the local, regional, and national levels. Through our non-profit work, we see ourselves as the voice of all families and advocate for policies that place families at the heart of social action and recognize their contributions. The German Family Association is politically and religiously independent and open to all families in Germany and all those interested in family well-being. With more than 15,500 members today, the German Family Association sees itself as a lobby for families. Through its political work, the national association has played a key role in the implementation of many family policy benefits, such as child-rearing allowance, parental leave with job security (the precursor to parental leave), the crediting of child-rearing years toward pensions, freedom of choice in childcare, and in the area of housing policy. Active and dedicated work is carried out at the local level in 16 state associations and numerous local and district associations. This includes political advocacy as well as a comprehensive program of activities, counseling and support services, and the organization of family retreats and family education seminars, some of which take place in the association's own facilities. Through its magazine "DFV-Familie," its website, and its newsletter, the German Family Association informs members and other interested parties about family policy and everyday family life. In doing so, the German Family Association raises public awareness of family issues beyond its membership base.
