Information about the responsibilities and services of the individual departments and divisions of this authority, as well as an overview of what falls under the purview of the Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration.
Department 1 – Central Services
The Central Services department consolidates the cross-cutting tasks of the division. Its responsibilities include, among other things, real estate, budget, IT, legal affairs, and human resources. The department also includes the unit for "Contracts, Funding, and Controlling of Fee-Based Social Institutions and Services," which also serves as the contact point for youth and social welfare providers.
Department 2 – Young People and Families
The Department for Young People and Families is responsible as a state authority for the implementation of state child and youth welfare in the state of Bremen (State Child and Youth Welfare, Supreme State Youth Authority in the State of Bremen/State Youth Welfare Office in Bremen).

- Controlling, Economic Youth Welfare, Early Intervention, State Distribution Procedure (Department 23)
The Social Services Department plans, develops, and manages services and support programs in the state and city of Bremen. The Social Services Department also serves as the highest state social services authority for the state of Bremen. It collaborates with other German states on legislation and participates in the Conference of Highest State Social Services Authorities (KOLS). Please note that we do not process individual cases of assistance but are responsible for planning and management tasks.

Department 4 – Work, Further Education and Transformation
The tasks of the Department of Labor, Continuing Education, and Transformation are wide-ranging. They extend from issues concerning the design of the labor market and labor market policy to labor law. Furthermore, the European Social Fund Plus in the state of Bremen is managed and implemented within the Department of Labor. The German Social Code, Book II (SGB II), regulates the right to basic income support for job seekers and the establishment of job centers. At the municipal level, the Department of Labor/Social Affairs (lead agency) and the Department of Finance, together with the Federal Employment Agency, jointly operate the Bremen Job Center.
