Conference as part of the Chamber Care Day

Care work is indispensable for the functioning of society and the workforce. By undertaking caregiving, nursing, and childcare – whether paid or unpaid – some enable others to pursue employment. Yet, despite its immense importance, care work is often invisible, underpaid, and unfairly distributed. This impacts the working and living conditions of care workers. Women are particularly affected, as they still shoulder the majority of these tasks, both in the private and professional spheres.

The conference aims to highlight care work in all its facets. Through lectures, workshops, and discussions, the organizers will jointly explore how care work can be distributed more fairly, better recognized, and reliably secured – both in private life and in the workplace.

Note: This conference is part of the all-day Chamber Care Day 2026. In addition to the conference, the afternoon will feature a diverse program of information booths, magic shows, and children's theater at the city library. The day will conclude in the evening with a reading and a film screening in the Chamber of Employees' cultural hall.
