District: Gröpelingen

In the new Morgenlandstraße neighborhood education center, children, parents and residents of Gröpelingen can become strong: with education, advice, art … and good food from the new cafeteria for the school on Fischerhuder Straße.

More space for education, counselling, art and culture

The neighborhood education center – QBZ for short – is a new component of the educational landscape in Gröpelingen. It complements the existing services in the district. At the QBZ, schools, daycare centers, and community organizations work together to improve educational opportunities for the children and young people of the district.

Workshops, courses, and projects for children between the ages of 4 and 16 focus on language and self-confidence – two essential prerequisites for a successful educational path. The QBZ Morgenland also offers numerous services to support parents, advise residents, and strengthen families.

Joint initiative of the Senate and Advisory Board

The neighborhood education center in Gröpelingen is already the third such center in Bremen. They were built jointly by the departments of education, social affairs, and construction, with support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), to strengthen social urban development and to develop programs for the respective neighborhoods that are precisely tailored to the specific local situation.

From 2010 onwards, the district institutions, schools, daycare centers, advisory board and department representatives in Gröpelingen developed a usage concept for the QBZ Morgenland as part of the federal program “Learning on Site” (2010-2014).

The idea: The QBZ Morgenland is intended to strengthen the entire educational landscape in Gröpelingen and, above all, to better integrate school and extracurricular education.

Gröpelingen forms

Gröpelingen has profound structural problems. But the district also has great potential. Many young people, some from all over the world, live here and want to contribute. The QBZ Morgenland aims to help the district seize this opportunity.

The Gröpelingen advisory council, the local office, the staff in the education, social services, and construction departments, and the elected representatives have repeatedly championed this new building. Now it is crucial that schools, daycare centers, cultural and social institutions work together to further develop the educational landscape in Gröpelingen.

Welcome to the Orient

The new building is also open to Gröpelingen institutions and initiatives for meetings, conferences, or events related to education and social urban development. For all questions regarding the QBZ, inquiries about conference and group rooms, or the event hall, please contact QBZ manager Frauke Kötter from Kultur Vor Ort eV.
