Advice and support for young people and adults in all walks of life
The Office for Social Services, with its six social centers distributed throughout the city, the specialist service for refugees, integration and family, the specialist service for participation and the "Houses of the Family", offers advice and assistance to young people and adults in all situations where support is needed and offered.
If you need parenting advice or help enforcing your child's right to child support, if your income is insufficient to cover your living expenses, if you are ill, disabled, or elderly and unable to care for yourself, or if you are an asylum seeker living in Bremen and need assistance – contact your local social services center, and we will work with you to find a solution to your problem. We are also the right place to contact if you have ideas for improvements in your neighborhood or would like to participate in the redesign of a children's playground.
Many dedicated employees of the office and social centers make every effort to help within the framework of the legal regulations and their capabilities. They depend on your cooperation.
Social centers
In the six social centers, the specialist service for refugees, integration and families, and the newly established specialist service for participation, you can apply for many essential services, from participation benefits and parental allowance to child support advances. You will also receive advice and assistance in all situations where support is needed and required. Refugees who have come to Bremen can also apply for assistance and support from us.
Youth Welfare Office
As a youth welfare office, the Office for Social Services also performs sovereign tasks, such as the protection of children and participation in juvenile court proceedings, and promotes the personal development of young people.
Social Welfare Office
As a social welfare office, the Office for Social Services supports citizens who are unable to work full-time. Our specialists advise adults facing particular social difficulties, elderly people, and people with disabilities who are in need of assistance.
Specialist service for refugees, integration and families
The specialist service for refugees, integration and families supports refugees with benefits under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act for eligible persons in the central reception center, emergency shelters, transitional housing and other facilities, as well as children and young people who have fled to Bremen alone without a guardian.
Contributing to strengthening social cohesion in the neighborhoods and reducing disadvantages is an important goal for us. This also includes the integration of refugees who have come to us.
