Who are the Sprinter Bremen?

In 2012, a neighborhood-based project to promote the integration of people with a migration background was launched at the Huchting Family Center. In light of the current refugee movements and the increasing demand for language and integration support, Förderwerk Bremen and the Huchting Family Center have joined forces to expand and sustain the project.

Since March 2015, the project's staff, known as "Sprinters" (language and integration mediators), have been traveling between Bremen North and Mahndorf, helping people translate and understand Germany. The project offers these "Sprinters" a new career path and contributes to ensuring that integration is not left to chance.

What are the sprinters doing?

Oral and telephone translation for people with a migration background at job centers, immigration offices, doctors, schools, daycare centers, savings banks, advice centers, etc.; processing and explaining forms and applications; integration assistance as "help for self-help" such as moving assistance, mail processing, neighborhood exploration, practical household tips, information about German courses, educational pathways, etc.
