Pilates is a holistic training for the body through the combination of gentle movements with breathing, strength, coordination, stretching and flexibility.
It is based on the 6 principles
- control
- concentration
- breathing
- precision
- Centering and
- Flow of movement
The focus here is on the core muscles, including the abdominal, pelvic floor, and back muscles. During pregnancy and childbirth, these muscles must primarily give way, while simultaneously bearing the weight of the unborn child.
Pilates training strengthens stressed muscles. Additionally, by stretching and strengthening the back, arm, and neck muscles, the training specifically helps regenerate the areas of the body that are particularly strained by breastfeeding and carrying a child. Lengthening exercises improve posture and counteract the increasingly one-sided postures associated with breastfeeding or lifting a child. Concentrating on the exercises and conscious breathing further promotes relaxation and recovery.
A postpartum recovery course should be completed beforehand.
For the course you will need a towel, comfortable sportswear and something to drink. Please bring a towel or blanket for your child, and a toy if you like.
